Big Role for New Mayor

HE'S following in his father's civic footsteps.
Blackpool born and bred councillor Robert Wynne is set to take over the chains of office in May after being selected as mayor elect for Blackpool.
And the 50-year-old has a lot to live up to as he follows in his dad's footsteps.
His father Edmund was the resort's first citizen in 1972.
More than 30 years later the Squires Gate councillor is hoping to emulate Edmund's citizenship as the resort he grew up in continues its regeneration.
His time in office will also coincide with a milestone in his successful businesses as Robert prepares to celebrate 20 years at the helm of one of Blackpool's most successful bars, the West Coast Rock Cafe.
Speaking to The Gazette from his home on Lytham Road, Coun Wynne said: "I have a lot to live up to as my father is considered as one of the best post-war mayors Blackpool has had.
"Having said that I am looking forward to a fresh challenge in a town I love.
"I am looking forward to being a good ambassador for Blackpool in a crucial year for the town.

"Regardless of any decision about the casino I am looking forward to being part of the ongoing regeneration in Blackpool.
"But of course, ahead of everything, I want to be there when Blackpool Football Club gain promotion to the Championship!"
The father-of-three has been a councillor for 17 years and was integral in the sale of Blackpool Airport in the summer of 2004.
He has a son, James, 17, a student at Blackpool Sixth Form College, and two daughters, Anna, 15, and 12-year-old Maria, both pupils at Highfield High School Humanities College. His wife, Gaynor is a nurse and helps to run the family businesses at West Coast Rock Cafe on Abingdon Street, the Rose and Crown pub on Corporation Street and The Blue Room on Church Street.
Coun Wynne said: "It's a great coincidence that this year we celebrate running a successful business and I become the mayor of the place I was born.
"I am looking forward to a very successful year in office, supporting a number of local charities."
